WOW what a CV

Patroclus (who has a proper job and thus knows about this kind of thing) tells me that the bigger software companies are encouraging anyone who's a moderator on a forum, or runs a guild in World of Warcraft to put these things on their CVs as examples of 'leadership'. This tickles me.

'I have considerable experiece with fireballs in underground environments. My greatest weakness is my constant distraction by mithril veins in the middle of combat situations. Also, my other identity is that of a skimpily-dressed female elf'.

Try and say all that a few years ago, people would have just stared at you.

In other news, I saw the last ten minutes of Saturday's Doctor Who (did we all know m'chum James Moran is writing an episode for Series Four?) and am about to catch up on the start. The appearance of a certain actor at the end made Patroclus squeak with delight, aww bless.

UPDATE: okay, she's not that skimpily dressed. Quite demure really.

Said actor is ordinarily banned in our house, and quite famously so in some circles. His casting has caused problems with the good lady husband but I think he's coping. I put it to him last night that in a sense the casting is ideal.

It's episodes like this one that make me wish, just for a second, that I was actually old enough to remember the 'classic' (read: Ancient) series, so I could go 'WTF?!OMGNOWAI-HIMZDATGUY!!??!!1' - excitement tinged with the rose-tinted yearning for the old days.

Then I snap out of it and realise I'm a Eccleston/Tennant child, and I'm happy with that.

And I think that many employers would be impressed that you're actually a scantily-clad female elf.

I don't recall the original Master ever giving a cheaky little wave - and where's his beard!!!! I am in shock.

I don't know which actor you mean because I haven't been watching the new series, but THE MASTER HASN'T GOT A BEARD?!?!? *Has heart attack and quite literally dies*

Please don't tell me who is playing the Master now; my rose tinted specs are close to shattering.

You wouldn't want this actor with a beard - but the casting's brilliant.

*joins Patroclus in delighed squeaking*

I did the squeaking as well. I was doing blog-type things while I half-watched Dr Who (recent crap episodes have sapped my interest), and rolling my eyes at Mr Violet's excited squeaking when he twigged that Derek Jacobi was gonna turn into the Master, when That Bloke appeared and I lost all sense of reason. Great choice.

When we realised the Master was back, Small Boo and I jumped up and down on the sofa like five-year-olds who've been offered extra ice cream with unlimited chocolatey bits.

Of course, if I can be forgiven for mentioning the 'Ancient' system, when Peter Pratt played the Master he didn't have a beard. Didn't really have a face, come to that.

In Brighton a while back I had the pleasure of seeing the CV of a god-awful local DJ who listed every computer game he'd ever completed in a subheading titled 'achievements'.
He’d finished quite a few though, to be fair.

Ok, i'm really feeling left out with the DW chat - I moved flat recently and don't have a telly. Is there somewhere i can watch the recent episodes on t'interweb? Anyone, help?!

Cheers
Anna

I don't think there are, other than ILLEGAL TORRENTS, which are of course ILLEGAL.

That said, the DVD sets tend to come out approximately thirty seconds after the last episode has aired, and there's only two to go now....

I'm glad there was no beard. Also he seems completely batty, which is obviously a good thing.

Oh and Vote Saxon!

Further Saturday night squeaking from here as well as That Actor hove into view; I have been a fan since his TV debut. Without the beard though its difficult to make a moral choice between him and the Doctor.

I am bothered by perhaps slightly dodgy direction of That Bloke. I'd quite like to see him being as dark and chilling as I know he can be.

Anna, you might find this article from The Guardian interesting...

As an expat Brit, TV Links has been a godsend for me, albeit possibly, a slightly illegal one. But hey, that's a mere detail that I can ignore if it means I can get my DW fix without having to wait for Canadian tv to show it (which, incidentally, it did last night - third series in all it's glory. It's better than Corrie, they are 8 months behind with that over here!)

So, you moderate a forum, you are leader of your group on Second Life ... in other words you're a geek without a life and you'll spend most of your working day surfing the internet. Next candidate please.

I'm quite pleased with the arc (pwuh! pwah!) this year. They've been really mucking about with the order of events, which makes for a surprisingly refreshing change considering the series involves time travel. I suspect this will mean continuity is going to be frightful hopeless (The Doctor not feeling the other person despite being around in the UK at the same time), but a small price to pay.

WV: 3 attempts

Hm, Llewtrah, the entire software industry was built on those attributes. Without people like that there would be no Blogger, no MySpace, no Facebook, no Google, no...oh wait, I see your point.

Patroclus, I spent 20 years doing my bit for the software industry, but I have a life :) (I collated info years ago about Asperger Syndrome and the software industry)
